Child Care Aware® of Eastern Kansas is excited to be partnering again with Allen Community College for a FREE spring conference! Join us in Iola at Allen Community College for “Powerful Interactions" on Mar. 2, 2019, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This amazing day of learning will feature multiple presenters and breakout sessions that will keep you energized and entertained. Five in-service hours will be given to those that attend and participate. Lunch will also be provided. 

Agenda for the day:
Opening Session
Life-long Learners: How we encourage children to take the initiative in their learning through daily routines and purposeful learning activities.

Morning Breakout Sessions (select one)
Growing Confident Learners
Join us as we explore specific teaching strategies you can incorporate during learning activities and daily routines that support children’s learning.

Creative Experiences to Play and Build Relationships and Persistence
In this session, we will take time to create and play. We will then brainstorm resources to engage children in creative experiences, as well as how to use powerful interactions to empower children. 

Afternoon Breakout Sessions (select one)
Capturing the Ah-Hah
In this session, we will learn strategies to use the pictures that we take of our children to build relationships and reflect on learning together. We will explore apps and other resources to enhance photos and increase accessibility.

Reflecting on Our Teaching Practices
In this session, we will do some self-discovery and analysis to discover where our teaching strengths stem from, and what barriers may be keeping us from reaching our full potential.

Closing Session
School Readiness: We will weave together the elements of the day to focusing on reflection practices, as well as strategies for communication, empathy and a respect of diverse experiences in addressing school readiness.
